Teachers of Sunshine ranking high in All India Video Contest

Muzaffarpur, Nov 21: As many as five teachers from the city's Sunshine Prep./High School are among the front runners at all India level  for the "Lovely Professional Transforming Education Awards" where the students can give credit to their teachers and bring them into limelight. Three of them are in top 100 at national level and one at number 1 at state level.

The education awards, aimed at providing recognition to selfless service of the teachers, besides providing Certificate of Recognition, will also honour top hundred schools with Teaching Grants, teachers and students with cash prizes and other incentives worth Rs. 1 Crore.

A detailed break-up of the cash prizes and other benefits has been provided at the institute's website www.lpu.in.

The two-phase voting that comes to a close in next four days, will adjudge the winners based on the number of votes and views their videos receive. However, this won't be the sole determinant as there are other factors too, the institute will take into consideration before announcing the final winners by December 5.

While all the nominated teachers of Sunshine have put up a decent show so far, the one to steal the march is undoubtedly Mrs. Neelam Singh, the school's principal who has been spearheading it since its early days. Her video has been viewed more than six thousand times so far, thanks to school captain Shivani Chaudhury, currently at all India rank 24th ,who nominated her through a video carrying ID number SUNE102723.

Ranjeet Kumar Srivastava, a science teacher is one of the highest ranking individuals in the contest. He was nominated by Tanisha, a class VIII standard girl who in the video carrying ID number SURA102742, can be seen explaining how Mr. Srivastava adds humour to the lessons and makes learning a fun. She also thanks her teacher for always being a great mentor who helps choose the right path. Her all India rank is 56th.

Sanya Verma's current AIR is 72, she is  from class X has nominated Ms. Abha through a video with ID number SUAB102527, where she can be seen counting her teacher's contributions towards the welfare of students. She doesn't fail to mention how her teacher whose expertuse lies in Sanskrit and Hindi, maintains her punctuality despite being ill at times.

The voting can be made either through SMS or online by visiting the LPU website www.lpu.in/educationawards.

For instance if you wish to support Mr. Srivastava, all you need to do is type AWARDS SURA102742 in the SMS and send it to 7834830000. 

The other teachers of the school who need maximum support to get through the neck-and-neckcontest may be helped by sending one SMS each to the given number after typing AWARDS SUAB102725 (for Ms.Abha), AWARDS SURO102724, AWARDS SUNE102723, and AWARDS SUSM102719. The voting lines will remain open till November 25. It will be followed by a review by a panel of experts comprising a retired IAS officer and a working senior journalist among others.

With no teacher from any other local school featuring even remotely in the contest, Sunshine teachers are likely to get the advantage of growing support from students from other schools of the district too.
